[11] Used Bmw M5 For Sale At Daily Gossip

While the wraps are literally still on, the next BMW M5 has broken cover accompanied by a slew of camouflaged images and impressive technical details. Fitted with a potent 4.4-liter M TwinPower twin-turbocharged V8 backed by an 8-speed Steptronic 8-speed automatic, BMW promises the new M5 will offer the most intense performance from any 5 Series ever produced. But much of that extra measure of ability will come from the car’s all-new and fully configurable M xDrive system that also includes an electronic locking Active M Differential on the aft axle.

This first-ever AWD package in an M car offers a classic rear-drive only mode but also can send power to all four wheels when traction conditions or driver preferences dictate. Employing a central intelligence unit with M-spec software that integrates control of longitudinal and lateral dynamics, it provides a combination of different settings: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC on, M Dynamic Mode, DSC off) and M xDrive (4WD, 4WD Sport, 2WD). These modes allow the new M5 to seamlessly transition from a sporty grand tourer to a hard-edge performance machine that delivers greater precision, responsiveness and controllability than ever before.

More powerful and more efficient twin-turbo V8

While BMW has not revealed the exact output of the new M5’s engine, it has confirmed that the 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 will be stronger than ever. It is expected to develop around 600 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a higher injection pressure, upgraded turbos, enhanced lubrication and cooling systems plus a lighter, freer-flowing and more resonant exhaust system. BMW will only say that the new M5 will be significantly quicker than the car it replaces. Credit part of that gain to the new, paddle-shift Steptronic automatic. It employs a conventional torque converter, a wider ratio spread and three different programs for quicker gear changes and improved fuel efficiency.

The redesigned cabin of the new M5 has the same solid driver focus as the new 5 Series but adds its own distinctive performance touches including an M sports steering wheel with two individually programmable M Drive buttons and an M-specific instrument cluster. Also on board is the latest iteration of BMW’s M View Head-Up Display that offers more refined graphics and a 70-percent larger screen to now include navigation.

The 2018 BMW M5 is slated to debut online this summer before turning up in the metal at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. U.S. sales are expected in early 2018.
